Hello to Everyone....who reads my blog posts lol
Now I am not sure how many of you know the show Good Luck Charlie that is aired on Disney channel, but for those who don't let me start off by saying its a great show! I love it!
For those of you familiar with the show did you hear about what they did?!
Good Luck Charlie had an episode where Charlie has a play-date with a child who has two moms, a same sex couple!
When I read this on US Weekly on twitter I was actually really happy for Disney doing this :) But there were others who didn't have the same exact thoughts I did, which is alright. We are all entitled to our own beliefs and opinions.
The reason I am writing this blog to be honest is I tried to post a comment under the article on twitter but I had to put my name and email address and I didn't want to do that, but I really wanted to share what I thought, so down below is what I would have posted if I could.
I am proud of Disney. I think that it is important to make
kids just a little aware of this. So the next time they go to school and make a
new friend who might just have 2 mommys or daddys they will look back to Good
Luck Charlie and maybe other shows (if shows have done this) and how the show portrayed it as something that is
"alright". Children are too young now to know whether they will
support it or not, but when they come of age, it's their decision not their
parents. As a parent you are suppose to love and support your children. You
want them to grow up and learn to make decisions on their own because that's
being independent. If a child chooses to love the same sex, so what? It's LOVE ! That boy or
girl is still the same person, just one thing is different, that's not a big
deal. More shows are opening up to the idea of same sex couples because it's
real life, its what we see in the real world. To have shows just where men
marry women is not realistic because thats not how it always is. And if people
are saying they are getting tired of getting it shoved down their throats and
are complaining about how its too much (to see gay couples on TV shows) well how do you think Gays feel when
they see just shows about straight couples living happy with the one's they love? It's not fair to them.
With Good Luck Charlie they didn't go over board with the display, because its
a kids channel. Some kids might ask "why did they have two mommys?"
All you have to say is something short and simple. Don't start lecturing them
about gays and stating your opinion. If you don't want to get into detail
either, turn off the TV, or just tell your kids "That's interesting but I
honestly don't know why". Its more likely that some kids will just shrug
their shoulders and move on to another show, or just want to go play. If you don't support
Gays you don't support Gays. If you do support Gays you do, but never try and
force someone to think one way, because that's the true sin.
I know that some people might read this blog and have their own thoughts, but if you don't have something nice to say then please don't post a comment.
Thank You Very Much
