I'm Camp Deprived

"Green Acres Is The Place To Be"

OMG! Its the first Monday after camp has finished and I am ALREADY missing it!

Hello everyone, so as you can already tell by the title of this blog, I've been busy working at a summer camp for most of my summer! The camp that I was working at is called Green Acres Camp. It was such an AMAZING experience for me and I was extremely blessed to have been a part of the camp community :) The people who worked there were wonderful people.

I first found out about the photographer position through my boyfriend and another friend. I have to be honest with you guys, I was pretty nervous when I was filling out my application. But thanks to the encouragement I got from my boyfriend I became less nervous and more excited!

As camp was approaching, the camp administration staff held meetings so that the camp counselors had an opportunity to meet everyone. It was there at these meetings that I got to meet the other photographer I would be working with, Alicia.

SIDE NOTE--> In the previous blog post I mentioned that I went on a photo shoot with two girls. Well from the pictures I shared Alicia is the girl with the short brown hair!!!

OK, back to meeting Alicia for the first time LOL.So turns out Alicia was not just a camp counselor but she also spent her time as a camper back when she was a child. HOW ADORABLE IS THAT!?!?!?! I can just picture little Alicia playing on the playground at camp HAHA.

I got from my first impression of Alicia that she was a friendly funny girl...which she still lives up to! We hit it off really well and it also helped calm my nervous. She helped me  get familiar with the camp grounds and telling me where each different Unit was located. The camp was a day camp and was held at the school Green Acres!

It was nice to see that the school ran a camp in the summer for its kids, because it really helps the children to love their school and what it offers them.

As the first week of camp approached, Alicia and I came up with a routine for taking pictures of the different campers in their units doing their daily activities. We thought it would better that while one of us was out taking pictures the other would be inside on the computer editing and uploading the pictures to the camp website.

After the first week of camp the remaining five weeks went by in a blink of an eye.

I left camp with new friends and new memories that I will always cherish!
Some memories that will remain with me include lunch time with Alicia where we would sit and watch Hey Arnold, Lizzie McGuire or Even Stevens. Another fond memory I have was preparing for Vaudeville, which was an assembly that the camp counselors put on for the campers. The assembly was a blast for both the campers and counselors. The different acts were amazing to watch and it left everyone laughing!!

Green Acres was definitely a highlight of my summer. I wish to return next year and have the chance to work with everyone who returns. It was a great experience for me and I loved EVERY minute of it :)
